Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation Alongside Modern Medicine

India gave the world Ayurveda and yoga. Used wisely — alongside modern medicine, never instead of it — they can help people rest, move and feel more like themselves during recovery. Here is how we think about it, and what the evidence says.
Alongside, Not Instead
We offer Ayurveda, yoga and meditation only with the agreement of your treating doctor, and never as a replacement for treatment you need. Some herbal preparations interact with prescription medicines or affect bleeding, blood sugar or blood pressure — so everything is discussed with your doctors first.
What the Evidence Says, Simply
- YogaGentle yoga can help with flexibility, balance, stress and some kinds of back pain, according to the US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. Poses should be adapted after surgery.
- Meditation and breathingCan help with stress, sleep and anxiety, which often follow a hospital stay.
- Daily gentle yoga and breathing, adapted to your recovery
- Simple, nourishing food — often from the farm next door
- Massage or other therapies only where your doctors agree
- Quiet, clean air, and time
