Questions to Ask a Doctor Before Treatment Abroad
Twelve questions to take into your specialist consultation, so you leave with answers rather than more worries.

Write these down before your video call. If you like, your coordinator will share them with the doctor in advance.
About the Diagnosis
- What do you think is happening, and how sure are you?
- Which tests would confirm it, and can any be done before I travel?
About the Treatment
- What are my options, including not operating?
- Why do you recommend this one for me?
- How many of these procedures do you perform each year?
- What are the main risks, and how often do they happen in your hands?
About Recovery
- How many days in hospital, and how long before I can fly?
- What help will I need after discharge?
About Cost and Follow-Up
- What could change the estimate?
- Who looks after me if there is a complication after I am home?
- Will I receive my full records and scans?
- Can my doctor at home speak to you?
Good doctors welcome these questions. Asking them is a sign of a careful patient, not a difficult one.
