How We Choose Doctors, Hospitals and Prices

We are not a hospital and we do not treat anyone. That is exactly why we can be on your side: our job is to find the doctor and hospital that fit your case, and to show you how we decided.

Medical travel works when the patient can see how decisions are made. Here is how we make ours, in plain words, so you can hold us to it.

Everything we check for you is what I would check before sending my own parents abroad for treatment.Harry Singh, founder

How Doctors Are Checked

  • Their medical registration, which you can check yourself on the National Medical Commission’s Indian Medical Register or the State Medical Council register
  • Their speciality, and how often they perform the procedure you may need
  • The hospitals where they practise and operate
  • What our own patients tell us after every case

Before your paid consultation we send you the doctor’s name, hospital and qualifications, so you can look them up before the call.

How Hospitals Are Evaluated

  • Accreditation: NABH, and JCI where held, checked on the official lists
  • Depth in your speciality: intensive care, blood bank, and the units your case needs
  • An international patient desk, interpreters and written estimates
  • Distance from Chandigarh International Airport and from recovery stays
  • Our own record of how past patients were looked after

We would rather tell you than have you wonder. We earn in three ways:

  • The consultation fee$99 for a specialist video consultation, shown before you pay.
  • A coordination feeFor arranging your journey. It depends on how complex your case is, and we quote it to you in writing before you commit.
  • Partner feesSome hospitals, hotels, airlines and pharmacies pay us a facilitation or referral fee. If a partner in your plan pays us, we tell you before you decide, and you can ask how much.

No hospital can pay to be recommended. There are no paid placements on our website or in our advice. Partner fees never decide what we recommend.

Our rule: we do not recommend the hospital that pays the most. We recommend the option that best fits your case.

How Estimates Are Checked

Every estimate is written and itemised: room, surgeon, anaesthesia, implants, medicines, tests and expected days in hospital. We line estimates up side by side, ask hospitals to fill any gaps, and question anything that looks out of line.

How Price Changes Are Handled

If a doctor’s examination changes the plan, the hospital must explain the change and give a revised written estimate. You approve it before anything is done, except in a medical emergency where doctors must act first.

Another Opinion, Any Time

You can ask for as many opinions as you need, from different doctors at different hospitals, before and after you arrive. We arrange them; you decide. Asking for a second opinion never offends anyone.

About Sohana Hospital

Sohana Hospital in Mohali is one institution we respect: a charitable trust where good care is affordable. We may recommend it when it fits a patient’s needs, alongside other options. We are not affiliated with it, directly or indirectly. Read our story.

How Complaints Are Resolved

  • Write to care@bookmedtrip.com or message us on WhatsApp.
  • We acknowledge within 24 hours and a senior coordinator takes over.
  • We aim to resolve within 7 days and tell you what we changed.
  • If a complaint concerns an agent, the agent is reviewed and can be paused while we check.

No Cash, Ever

Our agents and staff never collect cash. Pay only on bookmedtrip.com, or by bank transfer to the details we send from care@bookmedtrip.com. If anyone asks you for cash, tell us at once.

How Your Data Is Shared and Deleted

We share your medical records only with the doctors and hospitals you approve. You can download your records or ask us to delete them at any time, apart from what the law requires us to keep. Details are in our privacy policy.

When We Say No

We decline a case when travel would put you at risk, when better care is available closer to home, or when the treatment asked for is not medically supported. We always tell you why. How we decide.

BookMedTrip is a medical travel facilitator. We do not give medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. In an emergency, call your local emergency services.
